The Second Ship Project™
Our community reuse initiative.
This is our way of keeping perfectly good packing materials out of the trash and putting them back to work for local businesses, artists, and shippers. It’s simple: you bring in clean materials, and we reuse them to safely pack items for our customers — including StarPak shipments (/starpak-packing-shipping-service/).
Silly name? Maybe.
Serious impact? Absolutely.
What We Accept
To reuse materials, they must be clean, separated, and tape-free.
✔ Packing Peanuts
Foam or biodegradable. Must be clean and bagged.
✔ Bubble Wrap
No rips. No tape residue. No major wrinkles.
✔ Foam Sheets
Good condition. No tears.
✔ Kraft Paper
Clean, unwrinkled, and free of tape.
If it’s clean and genuinely reusable, we’ll put it back into service.
What We Can’t Accept
To keep the program sustainable, we do not take:
❌ Cardboard
(Too bulky to store or reuse.)
❌ Plastic Air Pillows
(They fail too often in second-use packing.)
❌ Taped, dirty, or torn materials
(We can’t repurpose them.)
❌ Mixed or unsorted items
(We don’t have space to separate them.)

Roanoke deserves better than unnecessary waste.
